Report
Arta (anc. Ambracia), Manoliassis Street (Makrythanasi property). P. Gouni (ΙΒ' ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of settlement remains in an area severely disturbed by post-Byzantine and modern activity (Fig. 1: 252). Hence evidence for the nature and date of the ancient structure(s) is slight, although two building phases are observed. A large quantity of domestic pottery was collected - plain and black-glaze, loomweights, and plates with stamped decoration – plus much shell. Post-Byzantine plain and glazed wares and animal bones were also well represented in the disturbed areas. Geometric and Archaic sherds were found on stereo, as well as sherds of decorated pithoi. Some 40 bronze coins were collected (all very worn), two bronze hooks, bronze rings, nails, and two arrow heads.
