Kavousi, Ierapetra (Tholos bay) - 2011
Kavousi, Ierapetra (Tholos bay) Theotokis Theodoulou (EEA) reports that in the broader area of the bay of Tholos, which comprises a declared archaeological site for the protection of the remains of a Roman building, potentially for storage, it was ascertained that apart from this building, a system of water collection with openings that lead to a stone built well, as well as scattered pottery in the entirety of the broader area are also present. The co-existence of the aforementioned and the bay with the sloping beach and the partially protected north side where the modern port has been built, indicate the use of the area as a refuge at least from the Roman period.
