Description
Kato Achaia, 25th of March Street (property of N. Lekka). Georgia Alexopoulou (ΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of two intersecting walls belonging to a building of the Early Hellenistic period (Fig. 1). They were made of large sandstone blocks and smaller stones, bound with clay. To the east of the building was a pebble road of 11.40 m. long by 5.50 m. wide, aligned on a N-S axis. The road was made of beaten earth and pottery sherds and its surface was covered by a thick destruction layer (Fig. 2). It was used during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. A small number of burials and gullies associated with vine cultivation were excavated along the side of the road (Fig. 3).
