Description
Agios Konstantinos, Papaphlessa Street. M. Stavropoulou-Gatsi (Director emerita, ΛΣτ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a tile grave in the course of road works. The grave (formed of Lakonian tiles) contained no skeletal remains, but a glass paste necklace, a very fragmentary vase, and a black-glaze ‘Eleian’ lekythos of the late fifth or early fourth century BC. At five other points along this street were small mounds of unworked stones with plain and black-glazed sherds. One further stone mound was found on a street running perpendicular to Papaphlessas, parallel to the southeast side of the public football pitch.
