Description
Chania, Plateia 1866. M. Andreadaki-Vlazaki (ΚΕ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of successive Late Classical to Late Roman building phases in the central square of Chania, just south of the public toilets. The main horizons were: Late Roman (a stone and terracotta mosaic floor and a courtyard with a well and four hearths); Late Hellenistic/Early Roman (pebble or yellow water-proof plaster floors); and Late Classical/Early Hellenistic (beaten earth floors with traces of burning). Small finds included a Late Archaic/Early Classical mould for small metal objects.
