Report
Figareto, Kanoni. Kotsibou property. J. Provata (Η’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation close to the Giovani plot (where the Dionysos pediment was found) and the Yourga plot (which revealed installations from the Hyllaian Harbour). Almost all architectural remains came from the east part of the plot, with the west producing a Late Classical-Hellenistic dump of pottery. Twelve sections of wall were found, mostly from corners of structures of successive building phases in the Archaic and Classical periods. A primary cremation of a small child was contained in a pithos laid on a bed of stones, covered with stone slabs and surrounded by tiles. Among the grave goods, dating to the Archaic period, was a flat Daedalic female figurine wearing a polos. Two water channels (one datable to the Archaic period) were found, made of terracotta roof tiles and covered with terracotta slabs.
