Description
Theagenous Street (O.T. 331-332, property of the Metropolitan Diocese of Megara and Salamis). (Fig. 1:4) P. Avgerinou (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavations north of Karia Hill for the fencing and paving of the courtyard of the Church of Ag. Lavrentios and Nikios, which revealed small parts of walled rectangular areas (Fig. 2) and part of a pebble floor. The walls, of small stones, lay below a destruction layer of building material. One area (A) produced much undecorated Classical domestic pottery - amphorae, lekanes, sherds of Attic and Corinthian workshops, kotylai, skyphoi, plates, phialae, lamps, and black-glaze olpae. Some red-figure sherds of the first half of the fourth century BC were collected.
Outside the building was a small rock-cut cistern (Fig. 3) with a stone channel with covering tiles.
