Polylofos- Agios Nikolaos - 2015
Polylofos- Agios Nikolaos. Nikos Choinas and Stamina Gioti (Ephorate of Antiquities of Ioannina) report on the excavation of a building complex and series of graves.
Two buildings were located, the first of the Late Roman/Early Byzantine period, the second of a post-Byzantine date. On the S/SW of the buildings was a percent in which there were a series of cist graves dating to the Byzantine period and post-Byzantine periods.
17 graves were discovered, of which all were oriented EW, made of irregular sized sonnets and covered in limestone slabs. Most of the graves were absent of grave goods, apart from Grave 47 which had small iron pole, iron plate and two iron buttons.
In total, since the beginning of works in this area, 5 graves in total have been found in clusters around and inside the grave complex. Both adults and minors were buried here.
