Description
Kephali Monis Odigitrias (Moires). A. Vasilakis (ΚΓ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the excavation of a Minoan settlement at Doukiana, on the east of the hill where clandestine excavation had revealed pottery and walls of the Neopalatial period. On the west of the hill illegal excavations had destroyed Pre- and Protopalatial buildings, while visible walls on the south slope indicate an extension of the settlement in that direction.
Six rooms of a large house were uncovered. In one of the two largest was the bottom part of a pillar. Another large room contained tens of pots of various shapes including cooking pots, jugs, amphorae and cups. A small room, characterized as a shrine, had a low paved bench on the east side, clay double horns of consecration, a stone offering table and two tube-like pots each with a cup placed on top of them. In the west part of the room two pithoi and a pithoid amphora sat on another low bench.
