Description
Kalamafka Ierapetras, Sochores (Liontaki property). V. Apostolakou (ΚΔ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of human bones and sherds in an opening in the rock. In the southern part of the area, a rectangular ossuary contained the bones of at least ten individuals, with the skulls placed mostly to the south and the long bones to the north. Together with sherds, some of which were Minoan, were two small bronze rings and a bronze heart-shaped object. To the north and east of the ossuary was a fill with a large quantity of mostly Minoan pottery, stones and bones: cut into it was a later burial oriented west-east.
At Portias a Late Minoan tholos tomb had a square plan, with an entrance in the east. It had been looted and only a few sherds were found on the chamber floor.
