Description
Apokoronas - Kalyves - Mysiri, Keras (plot “Kyriakidis Th. and Co. GP”). Michalis Milidakis (Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania) reports on archaeological investigations carried out in a plot at Mysiri, Keras, outside the settlement of Kalyves. Test trenches revealed an elongated curved trench cut into the natural rock (Fig. 1,2), containing small stones and a small amount of Minoan and undiagnostic pottery. A possible vaulted tomb (Fig. 3,4) was also identified and excavated; its fill contained mainly modern material, suggesting later reuse. The trench’s date remains uncertain, although the presence of Minoan pottery is notable. The property lies east of an area where LM III B–C burials and ritual deposits had previously been excavated.
