Description
Dimitra Drosou (Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza) reports on rescue excavations that took place within the Vathi-Faneromeni area.
The broader area has been excavated in the past and archaeological remains have been found in various sites (Fig. 1). The excavation was conducted to the west of the plot revealing 8 independent structures (Fig. 2,3) and a pipe (Fig. 4). Pipe: A few pottery sherds and four bronze coins were found after the removal of flintstones and roof tiles that were covering the pipe. The pipe was preserved in good condition and its bottom was consisted of clay plaques (Fig. 5). The site yielded a plethora of coarse ware, terra sigillata pottery sherds, iron nails, parts of glass vessels as well as 23 bronze coins, however it was not possible to determine the building’s function.
