Skafidia. O. Vikatou (Ζ΄ ΕΠΚΑ) reports continuing excavation of the Roman settlement. Remains of Roman buildings which formed part of an extensive planned settlement were found on two building plots (covering ca. 0.1ha). At Loutro, beside the Iardanos river delta and on the western edge of the Skafidia wood, a large bath complex was found. Skafidia. A large Roman bath, part of a large public or private complex, is situated east of the river Yardanos. Sixteen rooms around a peristyle court were richly appointed with a variety of marble wall cladding, arched ceilings with relief decoration, mosaic pavements and wall heating. The large rectangular frigidarium had niches around for statuary, and mosaic pavements with geometric patterns and depictions of dolphins. Skafidia, Loutro. Olympia Vikatou (Z’ EPKA) reports on an extensive settlement and bath complex in the area of Loutro along the banks of the Iardanou River, in use from 1-4th centuries A.D. The settlement formed part of an organised road system, as indicated by the discovery of a Roman milestone.
