Report
Brauron. A remarkable deposit of wooden offerings and other items was discovered by the Β' ΕΠΚΑ during excavation of a 2x2m trench for a drainage hole in the Sanctuary of Artemis, between the stoa and the sacred spring. The water-logged conditions preserved pieces of wooden shoes with incised decoration, two boards (sanides), parts of cylindrical pyxides, and a female peplophoros statuette of the first half of the fifth century BC with traces of red pigment. Other finds include two intact bronze mirrors, lekythoi, pyxides, and other vessels dating to the fifth century BC.
