ASTAKOS - 2004
Type of Operation
Astakos, Loutsena (property of I. Malandrinou). M. Stavropoulou-Gatsi (then Director, ΛΣτ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of terrace walls defining two natural terraces. On the lower terrace in a natural hollow surrounded by a light wall was a concentration of pottery, masses of clay, tile, shell and flint cores. Elsewhere, concentrations of dark earth are noted, containing a very little pottery and large quantities of murex shells. The pottery mostly dates to the Middle Helladic period with a very few Mycenaean sherds.
