Description
Sanctuary of Corinthian Apollo, Longa Pylias. Evangelia V. Malapani (ΛΗ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavations in the NW area of the sanctuary, N of temples C and D, and W of temple B (Fig. 1).
A floor was revealed 3.30 x 4.30m, made of cobble stones, and also a small pedestal 1.40 x 0.50 x 0.32m to the NW side of the floor. Hellenistic and Roman period ceramics were found in the excavation, and also architectural members, part of a marble basin, bronze nails, fragments of glass, and a marble architectural piece with relief decoration (Fig. 2).
The discovery of two pieces of tegulae mammatae suggests the existence of a Roman bath in the vicinity.
