Kastri (property of of Em. And Z. Theodossaki), Viannos. Stella Mandalaki (ΚΓ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports that archaeological investigation was conducted after the request of the landowners, due to the fact that evidence of ancient walls was visible in the S slope of the property. An area of 7x8.50 m. with four trenches with dimensions 2x3 m. was investigated. During cleaning, an enclosure made of stones and pebbles with a W-E orientation was found between two large rocks that were integrated to it (Fig. 1). At the centre of the enclosure, a wall (width: 0.80 m., height: 1.58 m.) which was probably used for supporting the slope was found. A roof-tile tomb (length: 1.80 m.) with a W-E orientation, containing a few bones, was found in relation to the enclosure. Eight lamps of the Hellenistic period were found in the interior of a barrel-shaped vessel (Fig. 2), which has fallen from the interior of the burial enclosure. A wall (width: 0.40-0.65 m., length: 2.65 m.) oriented W-E, was unearthed (Fig. 3); it potentially defined the grave circle towards the N. No other graves were discovered in the excavated area; however it is possible that others might have existed in the enclosure, based on the discovery of tiles and destroyed building material.
