Description
Tsoukalaiika. Vasileios Argyropoulos (ΣΤ’ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of building materials, domestic remains and burials. The building materials were present on four destruction layers which contained roof tiles (including an antefix) and pottery sherds which had rolled down Achlada hill from buildings located higher up the slope. These were dated to the Late Classical to Early Hellenistic periods. Some distance away were collected pottery sherds of the Mycenaean and post-Mycenaean periods.
The domestic remains included parts of three buildings found at the site of Anemomylos, dated to the Late Classical to Early Hellenistic. Building A consisted of two rooms with foundations of conglomerate stones and mud. Building B was preserved only as foundations, built with large roughly worked stones. Building Γ consisted of three walls made of large shellstone blocks (Fig. 1). Finds including loom-weights and sherds of coarse and black-glazed pottery.
The burials included four tile covered hut-graves, ranging in length from 1-1.86 m. Bones were only preserved in two cases and none produced any grave goods, making their dating uncertain.
