Megara
Megara, 22 Xenofontos Street (O.T. 53, property of G. and P. Sakellariou). Eirini Svana (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of four graves to the N of the plot excavated.
Grave 1: Small cist grave with orientation NS. Contained the burial of an infant, accompanied by a kotyle of the archaic period.
Grave 2: Sarcophagus with orientation EW, containing three burials. In the area of the head there were two black painted lekythoi (dating to around sixth century BC) and part of a bronze jug. Nineteen glass beads and a copper pin were also found
Grave 3: Cist grave.
Grave 4: Shaft grave, oriented EW and 3.7m below road surface. Two individuals inside, and grave goods included two pyxides, two complete vessels, one skyphos, and a bronze arched buckle. Late geometric or archaic period.
