Megara - 2007
Megara
Megara, Kurios Schinas Street (O.T. 151, property of Ayia Paraskevi church). Eirini Svana (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the excavation of various structures and an ancient well.
Building 1 is Late Roman, whose walls create a rather large enclosure, and are made from irregular stones and mortar. To the N, removal of embankments revealed Hellenistic pottery, scattered charcoal flecks and bronze pieces. The walls of an earlier building were probably used in the construction of a Late Roman structure. There is evidence of a third building phase, with which the well discovered is associated. The outer diameter was 1.14m, and excavation was conducted c.0.4m deep into the structure. Hellenistic and Roman period sherds were found inside.
ADelt 63 (2008), Chr., 143-4
