Salamis - 2008
Salamina, Salamis
Salamis, 31 Metaksa Street. Triadafyllia Kattoula (ΚΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on discoveries made during the construction of the city’s new sewer network.
At this site two sections of foundation wall were found, made of large stones, respectively 2m long and 2.5m long. Both walls were oriented EW. Associated sherds date the wall to the Mycenaean period, and include alabsters, kylixes, and jugs, in addition to clay and stone loom weights, steatite beads, obsidian blades, and a section of a female figurine. Most of the finds date to the 14th and 13th century BC, but it is thought occupation of this area might go back to the Early Helladic period.
