Megara - 2006
Megara
Megara, 7 Lachana Street (O.T., property of G. Pegkou). Panagiota Avgerinou (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of various Byzantine finds. In the NW of the plot excavated, a Byzantine wall and grain silo were found 1.95m below the surface. The top of the silo was fortified with stones, while the base was carved out of the bedrock. The silo appears to date earlier than the wall, but it was surrounded by soil containing archaic, classical, Byzantine, and post-Byzantine pottery. To the S of the plot a second wall was discovered, of length 2.64m and 0.63m wide. The walls were surrounded by pottery dating from archaic through late Byzantine periods, and among the finds were two bronze coins.
