Patras - 2010
Patra, Patras, Patrai, Patrae
Patras, 49-51 Zaimi St. (plot of “Ktisma” AE). Lamprini Papakosta (ΣΤ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavations adjacent to a previously excavated site. The property lies to the west of the main mortuary road (N-S) where the N cemetery of Roman Patras has been located. Half of two cist graves were discovered. In the S part of the property, remains of a Late Roman building were discovered with 2 main spaces, one square and one semicircular. A small circular kiln (diam. 1.3 m) that was discovered in one of the spaces, suggests that the building was a workshop. In the N part of the property, fragments of floors and pipes were discovered. In the fill of this area, tile graves without grave goods were found. Small finds include: 12 bronze coins, many architectural members (4 unfluted columns, 3 ionic capitals, a life-size marble female head) which were found as spolia in modern walls.
ADelt 65 (2010), Chr., 878.
