Amykles - 2011
Amyklai, Sklavochori
Amykles, Leuka, (property of Karagkouni). Giorgos Tsiangouris (Ε ΕΠΚΑ) reports that building remains of the Archaic period were found. The dating is based on the pottery found. In particular, in the N part of the property, fragmentary Walls 1 and 2, with E-W orientation, as well as Wall 3, with N-S direction, were found and belong to 3 different building phases. Close to the NE corner of the excavation, a room defined by Walls 5, 6, 7 was found. Its floor was made from a compacted layer of small unworked stones and crushed stone. A few black-glazed sherds of the Archaic period were collected. In the S part of the property, 2 successive built channels with E-W direction were found. In the SE corner of the trench, a deposit was found that contained pottery of the geometric and Orientalizing periods. From the rest of the area of the excavation, pottery mainly of the Archaic and early Classical period was collected, also a few sherds of the Geometric period, a fragment of a discoid acroterion with tongue-shaped painted decoration, a fragment of a head of a human figurine of the Archaic period, pyramidal loom weights, and also a discoid loom weight.
