PIRAEUS - 3 Kleanthous and 4 Mouson Streets - 2008

Piraeus, 3 Kleanthous and 4 Mouson Streets (property of E. Aktypi-Goune), 5 Kleanthous and 6 Mouson Streets (property of I. Lazaridi), 4 Kon. Manou Street (property of A. Tasiouli and Aik. Kompogiorga). K. Axioti (ΚΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of two quarries on the west/ southwest foot of Mounichia hill. The first quarry, which lies in the first two properties, is dated in the 5^th-4^th c. B.C. Finds from there include bases from black-glazed pots, loom weights and coarse pottery sherds. The second quarry, which lies in the third property, preserved extraction channels.
