PATRAS - Exo Agyia - 2002

Patras, Exo Agyia, Veaki Street (Mavronychi property). G. Alexopoulou (Στ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of two rectangular rooms of a farmstead which extends further to the north, south and west. Three construction phases are restored from the different techniques/materials used in the partition walls (opus quasi reticulatum, opus testaceum and unworked stones). The northern room contained two small cisterns, one of which had been destroyed (the other preserved a lining of hydraulic cement), which served a press. Outside the east wall was a small round kiln (preserving the floor of the furnace) which probably met the needs of the farm. Ten tile graves were found, all without goods (bar one bronze coin). Finds include large quantities of pottery (including second- to third-century Corinthian relief bowls, and combed wares), first- to early third-century lamps (noting one with πω[σφόρου] on the base), 24 bronze coins, bronze sheet and iron nails.
