Description
Kato Achaia, Boreiou Epeirou and Achaikis Sympoliteias Streets (Piperi property). A. Vasilogamvrou (Στ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of successive phases of Classical and Hellenistic settlement. Late Classical/Early Hellenistic is represented by a number of walls (some of which connect but do not form any clear plan) plus refuse and destruction deposits. One refuse deposit contained, in addition to pottery and tile, a terracotta lion-head waterspout, while another held tile, amphorae and lekanides and fine tableware. To the Early/Middle Hellenistic phase belong two pebble floors, and rather clearer evidence of the rooms of individual buildings. One contained a hoard of eight silver coins (six of the Achaean League, one of Argos and one of Elis).
