PATRAS - 19-21 Lontou Street - 2001

Patras, 19-21 Lontou Street. G. Alexopoulou (Στ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of part of a building in opus caementicium in the western part of the plot: this continues under the road and the neighbouring property. Foundations of the same structure were previously located at 24 Lontou Street on the opposite side of the road. While it cannot be identified, it is clearly a large complex belonging to the agora area. The springing of a vault visible along the exposed side and especially in the southeast corner indicates the existence of a large vaulted area south of this building. Architectural members were recovered, plus part of a grave stele preserving the letters DI.

Close to the surface in the eastern part of the plot and over the building remains were Christian graves.
