Description
Drakos. V. Zografou (ΚΔ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of two Late Minoan IIIC-Protogeometric pithos burials at the entrance of an old building between Drakos and Kalos Lakkos, northwest of Agios Nikolaos. The two pithoi were laid flat, mouths to the north, surrounded by Π-shaped stone construction and separated by a cross-wall. Both contained only bones. The first pithos (which had relief bands with rope decoration) was placed on a paved floor with two small pots by its base. The second (which had plastic bands decorated with a herringbone motif) rested on top of a skyphos and a stirrup jar. Obsidian blades were found in the area. The pithoi and the surrounding construction rested on bones from earlier burials gathered to the north.
