KORFI TIS KERIAS GONION - 2001

Korfi tis Kerias Gonion (Tylissos). A. Vasilakis (ΚΓ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation at a site which has occasionally been identified as a peak sanctuary ever since Alexiou reported the discovery of a bronze figurine there in 1966/67, and which has suffered from much clandestine excavation.

Sherds are scattered over an area of 350m2 split between two levels. Black burnt soil was found in the interstices of the rock. The broken limbs of human (male and female) and animal figurines were recovered, plus sherds primarily from cooking pots, plates and cups. No evidence of building was found.
