Description
Ai Iannis, Kamara (S. Kapharaki property). K. Kakouridi (Η’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports that finds from continuing excavation confirmed that scattered burials and occupation occurred here from the fifth to the first centuries BC. Collections of construction debris (notably tile) were found on the south and east sides (the latter also with a storage pithos). Tomb 5 lay on the north. Tomb 6, with its stone surround lay just west of tomb 1: the supine inhumation was disturbed (the grave was partially covered) and the preserved grave goods consist of just a few sherds and a Macedonian bronze coin of 289-288BC. A bronze Corfiot coin of 229-88 was also found by wall 1. The construction debris and storage pithos suggest settlement while burial activity (enhanced by tomb 6) is shown to occur not only between the two walls 1 and 2, but also beyond wall 2.
