Description
Vourvatsi. Widening of Varis-Koropiou Avenue. O. Kakavogianni (Β’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on two seasons of excavation of a Mycenaean cemetery (Fig. 1).
In 2002, small chamber tombs, mostly robbed were discovered on the north side of the avenue, in the area of the Mycenaean cemetery. On the south side of the avenue, at the north foot of Psilokoryphi hill (Kontra Gkliate, the prehistoric acropolis of Lamptrai), was a 20m long retaining wall, possibly for a road, oriented east-west, plus Mycenaean pottery.

To the south, in the area between the cemetery and the acropolis, a 40m stretch of strong retaining wall running east-west formed the south edge of the ancient road.
The excavation was completed in 2003. A total of 10 tombs were found (eight chamber tombs and two pit graves), of which only one pit grave was unlooted. To the south, the dromoi of three previously investigated tombs were located.
