Ary Lavreotikis, ore enrichment complex. K. G. Tsaimou (ΕΜΠ) reports on investigation from 2002-2004 around the fifth sloping washery (Ary I) found among the many level washeries of the Lavroetiki (Figs 1-3). The internal diameter is 5.8m. 10m to the west were the remains of a rectangular room, inside which, on the east, is a probable cistern (1.55 x 0.8m).
East of Ary I was a mill of the complex (A1, Figs 4,5) and a level washery (Π1, Fig. 6-8). The mill is a single room (10.1 x 5.5m) with two large limestone slabs along the west wall identified as those on which the ore is broken. Investigation of washery Π1 revealed a channel and a cistern (Fig. 9) and part of the level drying area Z (Figs 10,11).
A further sloping washery was found (Ary II, Fig. 12), with a level washery 2m northeast of it.
An ancient road running north-south through the complex is on the same axis as the modern farm road. Local fourth-century domestic pottery was found, as well as some undecorated Roman sherds and one worn bronze coin.
