Chania - Archaeological site of Falasarna. Elpida Chatzidaki (Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania) reports that during 2014 the public paths and the previously excavated trenches at the archaeological site of Falasarna were cleaned, while the fencing was repaired and signs were installed. During 2015, four areas were excavated (Sector I: NW edge of the waterfront and the unexcavated part of the NE tower, Sector II: Area of the wall and “lake”, Sector IV: area of coastal wall).

Part of the foundations of the new fort was discovered in Sector I, along with the partially preserved E corner of the NE tower of the port, Tower 4. The extension of the dock was also discovered, as well as 100 bronze nails from the burnt wooden pier. The Roman attack of 69-67 BC was verified through three marble slingshots bearing Latin inscriptions, iron and fire traces.

Three trenches were opened at Sector II, revealing a complex of fortification walls and walls of other structures. The former was probably part of the fortifications of the 4^th c. BC. A retaining wall used for water containment was also unearthed and the initial construction dates around the 2^nd c. BC. The pottery of this area dates to the 3^rd/1^st c. BC, bearing burning traces and marine sediments. Two trenches were excavated in Sector IV alongside the coastal wall, bringing to light parts of the 4^th c. BC wall foundations and black-glazed pottery.

The area of the previously discovered perforated rocks was cleaned. Green stains were found, suggesting that a bronze chain would pass through the large rock holes and that a mechanism enabled the opening and closing of the harbour entrance. Underneath the rocks, Prehistoric pottery was also collected. The digital reconstruction of the antiquities of the area was attempted, while the ancient stone anchor which was found at the entrance of the port was photographed and drawn.
