Markopoulo - Merenda - 2002
Markopoulo Mesogaias, Mavrovouni
Markopoulo - Merenda. Cleo Dimitriou (Ephorate of Antiquites of Piraeus and Islands) reports the following:
Ceramic material was found in two – out of five – subterranean chambers found on the low hill of Merenda village during excavation conducted from May to November of 2002. The stratigraphy shows that these chambers were closed groups that contained ceramics from the end of the Final Neolithic to the Early Helladic I period. Ceramic analysis inform us about the similarities with, and differences from, other settlements in Attica or more distant ones in Boeotia, Cyclades, the Saronic Golf and North Peloponnese.
