Spata - Gyalou - 2010
Spata loutsa
Spata - Gyalou. Zoe Zgouleta (Fitch Laboratory, British School at Athens) reports the following:
Recently a Neolithic settlement has been excavated in the area of Gialos in Spata. As evidenced by the findings of the excavation (architectural remains, pottery, stone tools, ancient botanical material and jewelry) this is a well-organized community engaged in agriculture and hunting and which was able to travel even long distances in order to obtain valuable goods. The inhabitants of Gialos in the Neolithic could build houses, experiment with construction techniques, make their own pottery, process stones and shells to make objects of aesthetic value. The study of this material can help us better understand the early phases of the Neolithic period in Attica.
