Tritaia - Daska - 2014
Kalentzi
Tritaia - Daska. Vasilis Argyropoulos reports the following:
During works for the construction of a reservoir and irrigation network at Daska in the Municipality of Tritaia, Achaea, a steep, isolated, and difficult to access site in a ravine in the foothills of Mount Erymanthos, excavations revealed the remains of a densely built prehistoric settlement inhabited from the Middle Helladic to the Late Helladic IIIC periods. The settlement occupies approximately 0.4 hectares spread over a hillside and staggered on the steep slope. The discovery of a prehistoric settlement in this isolated and steep ravine was unexpected. Its unique location as compared to Achaia’s other mountainous settlements raises questions regarding its function, longevity, and role in the socio-economic life of Mycenaean western Achaia.
