Athens - Sepolia, plot on Antigonis, Amfiaraou, Vionos, and Hatziapostolou Streets - 2014
Athens - Sepolia, plot on Antigonis, Amfiaraou, Vionos, and Hatziapostolou Streets. Lambrini Panagopoulou-Roka (Ephorate of Antiquities of Athens) reports on the discovery of a pipe and large enclosure possibly late-Classical / Hellenistic in date.
In the N / NE part of the plot, the pipeline was located. It was lined with Laconian tiles, and found at a depth of 4.05m.
In the W / SW part of the plot, two walls were found, which together define a large room. Pottery collected here is late Classical / Hellenistic, with most of the sherds being from pithoi, lekanes, and amphoras, most black-painted. It is possible that this enclosure was a farmhouse.
In the centre of the N side of the plot, a modern well was found, (3.2m diameter, 3.50m depth) as well as a modern road. A rectangular wall was also found here.
