Fiskardo - plot of Tofalos A.E. - 2015

Fiskardo - plot of Tofalos A.E. Eleni Papafloratou (Ephorate of Antiquities of Kefallonia) reports on excavation of three buildings found on this plot. 

At the SE end of the plot, a long alleyway was excavated (fig. 1), measuring 7.50 x 2m, and with a staircase at its W end. This space separates two buildings, one of which covered an area 160 sq.m (fig. 2).

In the central part of the plot, nine graves were located, arranged in three clusters. All date around 100 AD. The N cluster consists of two cist graves, the central of two pit graves (fig. 3) and the S of three cists and three pits. The finds from the tombs included clay lamps, glass jugs, bone forks, bronze rings, gold and silver jewellery and a silver coin.

The graves appear to be contemporaneous with the first phase of the building. There were subsequent building phases in the second century AD and the third century AD, before abandonment of the sites in the fifth – sixth century AD.
