Property of Emm. Kassotakis, Lyttos. Maria Mavraki Balanou  (ΚΓ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports that at the E of the archaeological site of Ancient Lyttos, a large grave slab (1x0.45m) was discovered laying on the ground, at the site of Koutsoulocharako. A single day salvage excavation followed. The grave slab was larger than those which were covering a cist grave laterally (Fig. 1). The rest of the slabs have fallen in the opening of the grave and were disturbed from a previous looting or due to ploughing. The alignment of the grave was almost N-S and it was almost empty. Only three lamp handles and one of a dipper were collected, along with a few scattered bones. The existence of a small square niche at the NE corner of the grave is of interest. Inside it, the bones of two skeletons were carefully arranged, with the long bones found at the base and the smaller bones as well as the skulls placed on top of them. The bones were covered with a small flat slab and a square Roman tile with carved grooves, which has been broken, potentially due to the movement of the materials. The crypt was found undisturbed. Along with the skeletal remains, fragments of a broken glass vessel and of a bone fibula were also collected.
