Report
Vrachnaiika, oikismos Monodendriou (property of Sp. Dimou). Georgia Alexopoulou (ΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of a roughly square burial monument (13.30×13.60 m.) (Fig. 1), with a stepped krypis and upper levels decorated by a convex-concave moulding (Figs. 2). The façade was dressed with revetments, attributing a monumental shape to the structure. In the upper part of the façade were limestone slabs with mouldings which were connected to one another with Π shaped joints (Fig. 3). Inside the monument was a funerary stele of 0.80 m. high and 0.50 m. wide, with the inscription ΠΟΛΥΚΛΗΣ / ΚΡΑΤΩΝΟΣ.
Pottery of the 7-6th and final 4th centuries BC was recovered, along with a small cache of five bronze coins from the stylobate in the north-western corner of the monument.
