Report
Kato Vlasia, Kastritsi Hill. Georgia Alexopoulou (ΣΤ΄ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation work undertaken on Kastritsi hill where a fortified settlement had been founded, where a theatre had been identified in the 1950’s in its northeastern area (Figs. 1, 2, 3). Six small trenches were opened in order to provide dating evidence. Although the results of the excavations were disappointing, the discovery of a few pottery sherds pointed to use of the site during the first quarter of the 3rd c. BC. During clearing the area, many fragments of Laconian roof tiles were recovered, suggesting that the main fortification consisted of bricks and was roofed.
