Report
Staphidokambos. Christos Matzanas (Z’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the excavation of a deposit containing pottery, stones, bricks, metal and stone objects dated to the 3-4th centuries AD (Figs. 1, 2). Also excavated was a Christian burial with the body of a male in extended position, arms folded across the chest and head facing east (Fig. 3). There were no grave goods. Bones from another burial, possibly secondary were also found. In addition, there was a wall which formed part of a Late Roman building made of rubble. Aligned on an E-W axis, it was preserved to a height of one course of stones (Fig. 4). The excavation produced a few pottery sherds, tiles, charcoal and animal bones.
