Hill NW of the Pallantio Acropolis, Motorway between Tripoli and Kalamata. Stamatis Frintzilas (ΛΘ’ EPKA) reports on the rescue excavation on an anonymous hill’s hillside, over the Hontos mine and across the Acropolis of the Pallantio.

The construction in kilometric position 9+025 began without informing the Ephorate, but later on, in the middle of construction, three regular and five trial trenches were opened in the area. There was notation of concentration of tiles and sherds between two rocks, on an area protected from the wind. After the completing of the cleaning process, a destruction layer was revealed. It featured large amounts of pottery, specifically black and red painted sherds. One skyphos, dated in the late Geometric times, was considered very important for the historical continuation of the area.

It is the author’s assumption that a small sanctuary was located in the natural bedrock since the eighth century BC (fig. 1), in close distance to the important holy site of Pallantio.
