Report
Megalopolis, 71 Ancient Theatre Street, O.T. 81 (property of P. Koutsopoulou). Stamatis Fratzilas (ΛΘ’ EΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of two tile covered graves (Fig. 1). Burial 1 was 1.85 m. in length, 0.52 m. in width and 0.33 m. high, with the skeleton preserved in very good condition. The grave consisted of six tiles, two along each of the long sides and one each along the narrow sides. The tiles were supported by small stones. Burial 2 was located to the north but continued into the adjacent property and was therefore not fully investigated. The excavated length and width was 1.50 m. and 0.60 m. respectively. The bodies were placed directly onto the soil, aligned on an E-W axis. Both lacked grave goods and are dated to Late Antiquity. Broken tiles of third burial were identified to the west of Burials 1 and 2.
