Report
Lefkakia, Sewerage Work. Christos Piteros (Δ' ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of foundations of 5 m. in length, made up of eight poros blocks. The northern section of the foundation was aligned on an E-W axis and formed the continuation of another poros foundation excavated nearby. In the same area were found kilns and a retaining wall belonging to the ancient temple of Lefkakia. According to the excavator the two foundations belonged to the same building which was identified as an ancient colonnade (stoa) which was aligned on an E-W axis.
Also excavated was an aqueduct built with stones and mortar, with walls of 0.50 m. in width and 0.95-1.0 m. high. It was aligned on a NE-SW axis, had a ridge along the top and was attributed to the Ottoman period. In addition, part of the poros foundation of an ancient temple in the vicinity of the Ipapantis Church was also excavated.
