Argos, 59 Korinthou Street - 2008

Argos, 59 Korinthou Street (Ο.Τ. 16, Property of P. Th. Liakopoulou). Eleni Sarri (Δ' ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of a rectangular building (X.1) with excavated dimensions of 3.0 m. by 2.70 m (Fig. 1). Only the eastern, western and southern rubble walls were preserved. The presence of a pit containing unfinished pots found in the north of the building as well as a horseshoe shaped feature, possibly a sink, points to the industrial character of the building. From the interior of the building as well as other features were retrieved various bronze objects and pottery dated to the end of the 2^nd to the first half of the 1^st centuries BC. However, the presence of pottery and other finds dated to the 6^th to 5^th centuries BC also suggested earlier use.
