Kifissia, Tatoiou 12 and Ragavi (O.T. 163, property of A., B., M., K. and Ch. Christellou). Maria Stefanopoulou (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) and Dimitrios Palaiologos (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) report on the discovery of buildings dating from the 2nd until the 5th c. A.D. (Fig. 1). A cistern, 2 terracotta pipes and 4 pits (two of which were shallow) were excavated and attributed to the first period of use of the area. A building was constructed on top of these, which bears additions and repairs attesting to its use until the 5th c. A.D. The building consisted of rooms with mortar-lined walls, and a room with an apse. A coin dated to Hadrian’s time was found in this building. A second building which included a room with a floor of beaten earth and an apsidal room with wall paintings was found in the area of the first. It contained a bronze coin and 1st c. A.D. pottery sherds. NW of these buildings part of a bath complex was excavated. One of its rooms had a terracotta floor and a terracotta pipe. A well was excavated next to it. Finally, 3 tile-built pithoi containing coins and 11th c. A.D. pottery sherds were excavated. This plot lies opposite the small church of Panaghia Xydous and next to the area were a Roman bath complex was found in the past. In addition it lies in the area where Herodes Atticus constructed one of his mansions (AE 1895, 185-186; AE 1906, 186; Koumanoudes 1995, 1-3, 358-359; Travlos 1988, 197, 200-201; Tobin 1997, 215; AD 37, 63; AD 17, 29-30; Romiopoulou, 1997, 90-91; Perry 2001, 461-492).
