Report
Acharnes, Unnamed pedestrian street crossing Drosini Street. Eirini Anagnostopoulou (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) and Ioanna Gourtzioumi (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) report on the discovery of a funerary peribolos, a marble sarcophagus a terracotta pipe and a wall. All aforementioned finds had been destroyed in 2008 by construction work that took place in the area without supervision from the Department of Antiquities. In 2012 excavations were conducted in the area and revealed 2 funeral pyres (Fig. 1). The first contained bones, pottery sherds, a fragment from a bronze object, 2 squat lekythoi (dating at the end of the 5th c. B.C.), and one half of a lekythos. The second pyre contained bones, pottery sherds, a miniature, black-glazed vessel, an iron nail and fragments from an iron object. Finally, part of the same terracotta drain that had been destroyed in 2008 was found.
