Entre la porte Sud et la voie centrale de la Ville basse d’Édessa, A. Chrysostomou (XVIIe éphorie des antiquités préhistoriques et classiques) a mené en 2007 une étude et une fouille restreinte à plusieurs endroits, mettant en évidence plusieurs nouveaux éléments concernant l’installation protobyzantine, en particulier des fours d’un atelier de verrerie, découverts dans l’espace 3.
